Tivoli Almansor Hotel

Hi, does anyone know of this property. We have never been to Carvoeiro, but have been to Albufeira 3 years ago, and Vilamoura this year (honeymoon, fantastic, Tivoli Marinotel - highly recommended!). We love Portugal, and after hearing so many good reports on Carvoeiro, we have decided to go and check it out for ourselves!! So if anyone has any info on the Tivoli Almansor, ie is it a nice hotel, what is the beach like, is it fairly near the centre of Carvoeiro? Is Carvoeiro hilly - like the old town of Albufeira? Many thanks in advance!!

Hi Annie,

Have never stayed at the Almansor but would love to - friends have. Have gone past there and sure lots of people will reply saying it is a fantastic hotel in great location just outside Carvoeiro so its either a long walk or short taxi ride. Seemingly the view at sunset from the bar etc. is fantastic?!!

Re. Carvoeiro being hilly

the beach is flat

and the walks around the lovely village is my idea of keep fit.

Have a great holiday in Carvoeiro - I think it will be the first of many - we will be returning for our 5th time in late summer. Wish we were there now.

Thanks very much for your quick reply. You've made up my mind on staying at the Tivoli Almansor!! The fact that the hotel is a bit of a walk to the town wouldn't bother us at all, as we love going off walking. I think there is a small beach beside the hotel as well, so that will be handy if we are feeling lazy!! Thanks again!

it is a lovely hotel
we stayed there in may this year...and the previous june

the walk into carvoeiro centre takes about 15 mins..or you can go for a more scenic walk out of the hotel gardens and along the cliff path...this
way takes about half an hour but its a great way to work up an appetite.
there is a small beach at the hotel,which is almost completely covered at
high tide.
the one thing i would advise is to pay the extra for the sea.view rooms
as they not only have an unbelievable view,but also have a large private balcony......!

Hi Annie

I know that you now have your mind made up, but just to say I'd support the decision to stay at the Almansor. We (2 adults, 1 baby) stayed their for 2 weeks last summer. Definately get a room with a view. Food is excellent at the hotel, especially the buffet breakfasts. While the restaurant is very good, there are also many good restaurants in Carvoeiro that you can try out in the evening times. Only thing I'd say about the Almansor that they could improve on (and this is a very small point) is that the gym is not adequate, but they do have fantastic swimming pools and this more than compensates. Have a good time.

I'm also thinking about staying there.

Can anyone tell me what the golf, diving and football facilities are like at the hotel. They don't give much information at all on the web site.

hello jim the baldy eagle...!
the hotel only has a putting green,but has plenty of info,and some reduced green fees for some of the local courses....i dont know about any football facilities,but does have its own dive school.
you can try an introduction to scuba in the hotel pool,or complete any of the padi recognised courses...you can get more info on prices etc at

i was last there in june but didnt get the chance to do any diving..!

If i remember right they do have a table football down near the pool not quite the same but fun anyway, but there is pleanty of lawn if you want a kick around... but its getting a bit hot for that, but the hotel does organize rock climbing and archery amoung other things in the afternoons

This is a great hotel.

Hopefully we shall be seeing the New Year in here come December. Anyone else within this forum going to be there?
