Portugese wine
I went to a portugese restaurant here in london and i saw on the wine list a bottle of Casa Garcia for £13.80. I bought same bottle in portugal in the small supermarket with the donkey outside for the equivilent of £3.50. What a difference
Restaurants do tend to have a bit of a big mark up anyway.
That's expensive for Portugal isn't it? Must be good stuff.
Whilst looking for Casa Garcia, I found this gem, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... eName=WDVW
one to avoid I think.

I dont think you're going to get the cheapest plonk for under 10 quid (+/- 15 euros) in a London restaurant these days are you? and Casal Garcia is not the cheapest plonkAnonymous wrote:You should only be paying about 3 euros for a bottle of Casal Garcia in a supermarket, about 5euros in a restaurant.

aaah casal garcia... amazing how the bottles just slip down so easily. The only place I've seen it for sale here is the shop in Plender Street (where you can have a pastel de nata and a coffee standing up at the counter whilst she's adding up your shopping- bliss)bifas 1st darling! wrote:Casa Garcia or Casal Garcia? Ask B2D she's and expert on Casal Garcia
I love the label and how the bottle is just slightly blue (oh and the wine inside it).
I'm not surprised it was £13.50 you pay about £11 for a bottle of house white wine in many places. I mean you are never going to get it a pt prices are you??
I like Ramada - white and red. But Pete says the red is too blackcurranty and rich.
I got completely HAMMERED on the red at Bartolomeu dos Santos private view in London a few years back
Burp!
stick to the coffee and pastel de natas
