Just got back....

Post by Beaso »

Just got back from Carvoeiro yesterday and had a magic time. Places i would recommend are Happys for a great evening meal, Mungos the british bar, the cocktail garden at monte carvoeiro where you get great freestyle bartending, fernandos stone steak at monte carvoeiro aswell where you can cook your own steak, although the chinese we visited wasnt great. Also, make sure you visit the zoomarine- brillient. I'd have to say i was slighty disappointed with Albuferia though- not all its cracked up to be.

CHINESE

Hi Beaso,

You should've tried the chinese on the right up the hill, ordered the meal for 4, enough for 6. great value.

Did you go to the stone steak on the left up the hill or was it the other one?

We also had lovely snack, up the hill on the left, cannot for the life of me remember it's name, next to a sort of waste ground , used as a car park by some, next to a hotel with tennis courts, I think.

Sooooooooooooo jealous that you've just been, we will have to wait till October, unless the flights come down drastically!!!!!!!

Where didyou stay?Any suggestions?

Regards

Anne

I think the cafe you mean is cafe fino - if so I agree, we go there for the cafe fino breakfast, it's a continental breakfast but you get so much it could last you all day and it's only 6 euros!

i went to the stone steak at monte carvoeiro- fernandos stone steak, was very good. We stayed at Casa Margal which is up the road opposite the bank at the top of the hill, past the mini market and to the right- was an excellent villa for the 10 of us.

Freestyle bartending - it is really about perfecting the show around serving drinks - mostly bottle throwing and catching in some contortionist way :D

Thanks Gambrinus, so when my little son drops glasses, bottles etc. and I rush to catch them, I can now call myself a freestyle bartender and add it to my C.V?  :P

I got back on thursday  Had a great time, just a word of warning we went to Pria De Rocha for the day we had two young boys with us aged 15 and 16 and they were constantly asked if they wanted to buy hash, the people trying to sell it to them had no shame they knew we were with the young boys but they couldnt care less, we was also pestered all the time to buy gold chains (fake) and when we refused we were abused. This has put me right off going to that part of the algarve again and i just hope it doesnt spread to cvo. (although i dont think it will). Having said that i wouldnt let it spoil my hols it just annoyed me. I done all the touristy things whilst there i even went on the tourist train and asked the driver to keep ringing his bell just to annoy the locals  I would reccommend Happys, O'Barco and Casa Algarvia. We also went to Flic Flac for the first time and had a good few drinks in there. All in all we had a great time and cant wait to return maybe next year for Euro 2004.

Same happened with my son when he was just thirteen and when he said tht he "didn't", they suggested that he bought some and took it home to sell to his mates back in the UK - possibly worth telling older children about this potential scenario.

Glad you enjoyed your holiday Loretta overall and it is great to see you back on the forum, giving us all the up to date gen from a tourist perspective.

Hey i just got back from portugal yesterday.

I would highly recommend the Stone steak on Monte Carvoeiro, the one with the Black and white tables, their flambe strawbwrries are to die for. if you are looking for a good Value meal, Cafe Piu on the square and Csa Algarvia are also very worth while.

I went to Zoomarie for the first time, it isa fantasti c place for all the family.

I got to know a Barman in Colina Village where i was staying. :D i think his name is Miguel, if anybody knows him or how i can get in contact that would be great.
