well actually I do live in a city with a large muslim population - both my children go to schools with large intakes of muslim and sikh students and have friends from both these groups, one of my daughter's best friends was an asylum seeker from Afghanistan. Of course I know that there is a huge muslim population in London and that in some areas muslims do outnumber members from other communites -d'uh.
However I don't agree that Britiain will soon become a muslim country - how could that possibly happen? and I'd really like to know ONE law that has been passed lately to favour solely the muslim community? I expect you are thinking of the law against religious hatred... well that covers ALL religions. It doesn't mean you can't say anything critical about a religion what it is stopping is people spreading hate-filled flyers and information about ANY religion. Isn't that a good thing? I loathe fundamentalism as much as you guys, I have seen first hand how having fundamental christian parents have completely f***ed up young peoples lives for instance.
I looked up all the three major parties' shadow cabinets and there is not one muslim, sikh, black or chinese person in ANY of them... (and hardly any women either) so people from these communities are hardly in the positions of power to influence policy.

And are you all so insecure of your own identities that you would all suddenly without any argument convert to islam?? EH? Have you converted everytime the Jehovah's Witnesses have knocked on your door or the Mormans and Hari Krishnas have stopped you in the street? It just wouldn't happen.

Understandably you are terrified of these awful monsters - all those horrifying men, women and children plotting every day to overthrow us while we sleep!!

By tarring ALL muslims with the same brush of fundamentalism - which is what I read between the lines -you are just helping to keep all the communities divided... well thats my opinion anyway.

I am not religious, Ialso have a few Muslim friends. You seem to have me down as some sort of paranoid racist who is scared of "all those horrifying men, women and children plotting every day to overthrow us while we sleep!! " as you put it.

My post in response to your "rubbish" statement has nothing to do with race hate laws,how many Muslim Mp's there are or even how many people in this country wear big jackets and carry rucksacks on the underground!!

The fact is Muslims will become the majority in the UK within 30 years.

I don't think I tared anyone with a brush in my post above, What I think happened is you put words into my mouth! Maybe you should stick to what is written rather than reading between the lines?

I find this difficult to believe. Are you sure this is “fact”?

I sneak off to England once or twice a year…. London, home counties, west country, and I see very few Muslim-looking types. I know they are thick on the ground in certain neighbourhoods, but “majority in the UK within 30 years” …are you sure

I don't know about the uk, but Berlin is probably the 2nd or 3rd largest turkish city, followed closely by Cologne. The question is, how do you integrate "aliens" into a society if their beliefs and values are fundamentaly different for those common to your society? You can't, can you?

I just don't understand... do you mean that in 30 years there will be more muslims than everyone else put together?
I just found some figures online, according to the 2001 census there were around 60.5 million people in the UK. Of those 2.7% of the population were muslim and 71.6% defined themselves as 'christian (that's ecumenical faiths) - the birth rate for 2005 was 0.28% and the death rate was 10.18/1000 - pm and digger are good at maths aren't they. Work it out for me boys. Pardon my crudeness but I reckon those muslims have got some serious shagging to do to overtake those figures in 30 years.
Or do you mean there will be more muslims than christians. You need to take into account that rates of church attendance are falling dramatically so it may not necessarily be a huge rise in Muslims that accounts for it.

OR do you mean that by some amazing constitutional change the queen (or whatever Prince is King by then) ceases to be head of the church of England and defender of the faith and that we actually become a Muslim country. And by that do you mean we become a religious state? i.e. one where the church makes the laws?

I am intrigued by this please let us all know what it is you actually mean and where you read this information - i know those BNP flyers can be mines of information (sorry incendary i know - BAD GIRL). this is really livening up an otherwise rather dull birthday...

Going way off thread here!, but you only have to do the Sums, Muslim families tend to be far larger than your average white British family.

Digger If your trips back to the UK included places such as Oldham, Rochdale, Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield you would, even today see as many Muslims as other religious groups.

You may recall riots a few years ago in two of the above towns, I was told by someone who saw the riots in Oldham first hand that some people there were shoting through loud hailers ........we have to claim this land for Allah !!

Watch this space! On current demographic trends, native British people, will be an ethnic and religious minority in their own country within the next 30 years

Just for a moment going back to the comment about "Muslim looking types", which I think was made by Digger (but I really can't be bothered to double check, so apologies if I am wrong

) My brother is a Muslim...he is blonde, wears western clothes and doesn't sport a beard. I also have friends who are Asian but they are not Muslims, so how can you generalise.

Anyway back to flip flops...my favourites are a pink pair with a very sexy kitten heel...

Yes Sharen you’re right, it was me with the "Muslim looking types"

The thing is, I had no idea there were so many of them in England, because I suppose I am guilty of judging people by their appearance …. (and I'm not too familiar with those places in Yorkshire guest mentioned)
But even if they all look like bin laden, it wouldn’t concern me if they only made up a small percentage of the population, because I don’t know or care much about religions anyway … live & let live.
But for a moment there I had a slightly uncomfortable image of the majority population of England looking er … that way.

How come you’ve got a Muslim brother anyway? (hope you don’t mind me asking)

Flip flops with HEELS?? What's that all about? Surely its a shoe? (By the way I have a bike with four wheels and a 1.8 litre engine...) Do they still make the flip flop noise? In Isreal they call them something like huff huffs - I'll have to check on that tho. What are they in portuguese/german/dutch??
