going tomorrow!!
so. im going to the algarve somewhere tomorrow...to be honest I don't know WHERE I am going...my parents probably told me, and I probably wasn't listening!
I am 15 years old, a girl, called Natalie. I am going with my mum, dad and little sister (10). It might be quite boring unfortunately.
What is there for me to DO?
I go drinking every weekend at home and am quite elated (if thats the right word!) about the lower drinking age...although some people tell me it's 16, some 18, and some say there isnt one...
What is it? And what can I do there?!
Please reply soon, I'm going tomorrow!!!!

Natalie, the legal age for buying alcohol in Portugal is 16, but that is "buying", you may drink at any age with your parents, for example wine with a meal. You may be asked to provide ID if you tried to buy alcohol on your own at a bar, and a recent poster said that checks were getting tighter around Carvoeiro.
I am sure you will have a good time, there are masses of beaches, waterparks, loads of bars and restaurants, and everyone is generally very laid back and friendly. Assuming you are allowed some freedom (and it sounds as if you are if you "go drinking" every weekend) try to hook up with some other people your age and hang out with them when your parents get too boring and your sister too annoying. As a parent one of the best things that happens to me on holiday is when my kids hook up with others and we barely see them for a fortnight.
Last year it was hanging around under the stage in the square, a mini league of nations event every night, great for entente cordial.
Anyway I sure you are looking for a response from someone not old enough to be your mum, so I shall bog off now.

i really have no freedom...they think im hanging out as i try sober up before i go home (its during the day)
but i am glad to hear there's waterparks!!
I am quite shy though, so will people be nice do you think if i go say "hey"?
not wine...had bad experiences with wine...urgh! but glad to hear i can drink with meals...it may make my parents more relaxed about alcohol!!!

You will be fine if you say "hey" to people, remember that most kids are also only there for a week or a fortnight, so they tend to hang back waiting to be asked to join in - take the initiative especially on the beach or at the waterpark, look out for people your own age who are looking bored or peed off hanging around with their parents or younger brothers and sisters and simply say "hello".
If you are staying in hotel, it is usually even easier to spot who is your type and getting a conversation started - you can always start with something like "are you stuck here with your mum and dad too?"

Natalie, have a lovely holiday but please dont be encouraged to drink wine if you don't like it nor any alcohol to excess.
I'm not wanting to sound like a teenagers nightmare parent but being able to drink alcohol isn't as much fun as its cracked up to be and my teenage daughter can't stomach wine.
A friend wont be coming to Carvoeiro on holiday nor any holiday. She was your age when she started drinking alcohol but has never had the pleasure of holidays because she has never been able to hold down a job through becoming an alcoholic. Sadly she has even lost custody of her young daughter - even having a beautiful baby and knowing she could lose her didnt make her listen to all who tried to help and now her family have given up on her 20 years later.
Hope you have a great holiday and meet lots of friends too.

Hey, I'm sure you'll make lots of friends when you're drunk, but will they be the right ones 
? Wise up girl, you're comming to a country where you don't know anyone and things are different. Over friendly, drunk girls are considered easy girls
