Perhaps Karen has not understood, the purpose of this site.
Its to exchange information and more importantly (I think) to make friends with people with like minded interests (CVO).
As they say ' don't sweat the small stuff' we enjoy the banter and it brings a smile to our faces.

Perhaps you could put it in the Food section or the Restaurant Review section, then it would be a really useful reference. We wouldn't want the general section being cluttered up with restaurant reviews when there are two sections already dedicated to this topic.

I couldnt agree more with Tricky--exactly right-----forums just not for info but just as importantly its to make friends on here> The banter is great -even the arguments stimulate --and personally speaking it has opened up a whole new world for me -- me,who only a few short months ago was scared stiff of using a pc--
Im Carvoeiro.coms greatest fan -- keep it coming -- info--banter -jokes --the lot !
Will be pleased to hear of Pinkies experience of "L'orange "restaurant as intend paying visit inSept.

I stand by my original posting this is not the primary function of the site. Many of us do not want to read bad language, innuendo and idle banter. I cannot believe that there are people out there who go out for an evening and come home after midnight and leave postings. For goodness sake if you want to make friends join a chatroom.

Can you suggest some good chatrooms? I am aware of people who use this forum who are ill and confined to both the house and a wheelchair, their memories of Carvoeiro are happy ones and they want to share some fun and laughter with people who share the same tastes and interests. (A lot of chatrooms only appear to speak in text language)

Love the Victor Meldrew impression in the penultimate sentence of your post, are you really that intolerant?

This is turning into a real joy, I am just loving it now, that girl can banter with the best of us, although a little judgemental I think, but hey what do I know

Even better, I have just noticed, that Karen rejuvenated the post just as it was drawing to a natural close, and now it is beautifully heading into the sort of figures which may make it one the winning posts of the year -
only another 5 posts and we are right up there with "Helmets" but it needs another 22 posts to take us to the heady heights of Martin's "Great Land Opportunities" (The land was on Mars, just incase for one scary moment there people thought that may have been a relevant topic

If meaningful tips are what you are looking for in the forum why not posting some of the questions you have giving others the utmost example of how a forum should be used according to Karen Luton........
If people would stop 'chatting' at the forum the only thing one would read was the humble emptyness of a white sheet.....

A lot of people go through life expecting things to slot nicely into place, time slots etc. and maybe if they chilled out more then they would be a lot happier? - unless they are some of those people mentioned in British newspapers at the moment who find the sheer thought of leaving the work in the office so stressful that they are cancelling holidays.

One of my fondest memories of my first holiday to Portugal was queueing up at a supermarket checkout and the lady serving chatting in Portuguese to a friend - and chatting - and chatting - and chatting. After a few minutes it was obvious that they werent going to stop but they were laughing and we all started laughing, couldnt understand a word of what was being said but it was just so lovely to experience the laid back experience of life in Portugal and which makes us return as often as we can

And being from up North we like to have a chat anyway

Where would life be without our taking time to chill out & chat --love the example you give about Portuguese women chatting& laughing in shopping queue--- life to day is a lot of hurly burly -- no time to stand and stare or indeed Chat!
When I first settled in Lagoa-- Istill had all my "london " ways wanted everything done on the spot --always in a hurry --and I made a fool of myself more than once by being very impatient! and I dare say a bit rude
as well!
But after a while --in making many wonderful Portuguese friends I learned to relax --to make time ---slow down a little -- to stand in the queue and chat & laugh and get more out of each day --enjoying others company--and thats exactly what most of us like to do on here--even when theres friction -which there often is--we have contact --thats whats important!

'learning to relax' a great way to put it. It is so easy to come out from the UK, or other european countries for that matter, and not be able to slow down to that lovely slow pace of life in the Algarve. I feel every time I visit I get nearer, but I am still a long way off!!!

I really hope it never changes.........

No it isnt easy djprescott--ittook me (us ) quite a time to merge into the "amanha will be ok" way! But we did eventually and it was wonderful--trouble was when we returned to UK after couple of years -we were in reverse so to speak--went round with silly grin on our face and expected every one tp greet us with handshakes and for me a kiss on both cheeks- neither of which happened sadly --hence my eagerness to return to CVO at least once a year for hols!and --hopefully in years to come--retire back to our old home!
