Ferragudo

Post by GARY »

Hi i am travelling to Portugal for the first time in 3 weeks staying at Villa Costella which is a little village not far from Carvoeiro, Just a few questions really if anyone can help!!!

What sort of temperatures can i expect? 28.8.03 - 9.9.03

Are the beaches sandy around Carvoeiro/Ferragudo?

Are the water Parks and Zoo far to drive? Is it worth hiring a car?

Are these fires anywhere near the south/Algarve?

Is Albufiera a bit like Magaluf/Ibiza for young brits and stuff!!!
Any help would be appreciated?

Hi Gary

As you can see from the webcam, it's pretty hot at the moment (although the UK isn't doing too badly either 8) ), the beginning of September might be slightly cooler but still very warm probably mid-late 20s.

The beaches are all sandy, some are reached by lots of steps cut into the rock eg paraiso and carvalho but are sandy when you get to them. Have a look at the photos of the beaches on this site.

If you are staying in Ferragudo I would recommend you hire a car, the water parks etc are from 10 minutes to 30 minutes drive from Ferragudo.

The fires are near Lisbon in central of Portugal at the moment as far as I understand, so not anywhere near the Algarve.

Yes, Albufeira is a bit 'Blackpool-on-sea' and the liveliest resort on the Algarve - Praia da Rocha probably comes a close second.

Have a great time, I'm sure you will

Vila Castelo and Ferragudo are both an excellent choice for your holiday.

Ferragudo is a typical fishing village with some of the best fish restaurants in the Algarve and many more besides. The nearest beach to you is Praia Grande in the river mouth - a long stretch of sandy beach. Besides this, actually in the sea are the cliffy bays of Praia do Molho, Pintadinho and Caneiros (the best & the best beach bar around).

Most of the Waterparks offer transport to & from for a small extra charge. A car always makes things easier but is not a necessary expense.

Hope you have a wonderful time and enjoy the Algarve as much as we do.

:D You'll be fine Gary,

The place you are going to is lovely. Nice beaches, good restaurants, nice people ,nice climate etc.

If you are planning to go out (real hard) I would recommend praia da oura (part of albufeira). You'll find some nice pubs there. Clubs:Kiss, Locomia, bull ring, K.

All the best and enjoy your holiday!
