Has anybody any experience of the big game fishing out of Portimao.
I know there's an English guy with a boat that looks like a converted Titanic lifeboat, and a Dutch guy who must have worked in a sardine factory the way he packs the people onboard, but both were very evasive when it came to talking about actual successes, producing photographs where the fisherman looked suspiciously like Hemingway.

BIG GAME FISHING

Two years ago, mid- Sept, I "treated" my husband, son and brother-in-law to a big game fishing trip, inclusive of lunch, from Portimao.
What a complete waste of time and money. They have yet to see any big game fish, let alone catch it, (all they managed to catch was sunburn!!!!!)
The lunch was chunks of bread, cheese and pate,and bottled water, and they were still hungry afterwards. Very boring was their verdict, and would never go again.It certainly wasn't cheap!
Save your money, go and do something more interesting (watching paint dry springs to mind!!!)
However, last year we took a boat trip out from Lagos to visit the caves, got all four tickets for 15 euros, and it was a lovely trip, the boat had toilet and small bar on board and moored for about an hour near to the caves, we were taken through them in small boats.
While everyone took turns to visit the caves, those who remained on the boat swam,snorkelled in the sea. Lovely stress-free afternoon.
