Did think it was quite funny though, watching them squirm when being told that the house would have to come down!!!! And then when they got outside the camara buildings they started ranting and raving that was all quite funny!! Just feelsorry for the people who have got an offer on the property!

No guarantee even with legal advice that they would be advised correctly, I am sorry to say. How often do we hear on this site that people have bought properties using legal reps and still have illegal parts to their property etc. It is best to research yourself alongside legal advice. Like Andrew Winter said, go to the local authorities and ask the questions.
I am interested to know how they are going to get permission/licence for a swimming pool in that area, as the guy from Silves Câmara said that could probably be arranged. If the wooden house has to come down in the same type of land, how comes the pool can stay? I ask because someone I know, who lives down the road from there, has been told "no" because of it being ecological land. I might tell her to go and quote the programme and that house now.
People certainly do take their brains out when buying abroad it seems and trust everyone. The areas those people live in has also had big fires close by for a few summers now. I would be a bit worried about that wooden house.

uk friends nearby in messines who had local neighbour who didnt like them and saw them taking new tiles into their little cottage to redo the bathroom..they informed silves camara who sent an inspector round and who told them that they needed permission to renovate their bathroom.
As for wooden houses, fibreglass pools, yes yes you need a licence I was even told years ago that you need a licence to build a bbq!
