new kitchen
new kitchen
I have posted this query on the Talk Algarve site but sadly not many poeple seem to look there. Can any one advise what is the best option for buying and having fitted a new kitchen. The one in our villa is OK but was installed by a 6'6" gentleman and is way too high for me. We have had many opinions from buying in Spain to having one transported from the UK, we have been told that a kitchen from B&Q, Magnet etc is cheaper even with the transport costs than one bought here on the Algarve. One company here even measured up and said they could lower the existing one but they have not got back to us. Any ideas please.
We went to Ikea, easiest solution. Some piccies here

New Kitchen
If you really want a new kitchen it is worth while shopping around. As you will know there are quite a few kitchen showrooms in the area and they can be expensive, sometimes because they are imported from Germany. We decided to have new and chose from a kitchen showroom in Silves called Cozisul. We found them excellent to deal with, did what they said they would do and in the best time, just before Christmas, and followed up any little snags we had. The cabinets are made in Portugal. I cannot say that price wise they would be near the other retailers mentioned but, for us, it came down to convenience and negotiation from England. Their number should be in the local telephone book. Hope you get what you want.
We had ours fitted last year by Montdales in Ferragudo/Portimao

Would thoroughly recomend them!

New Kitchen
Just a thought....
!;ve spent ages looking for a new kitchen in the UK, and out of all the usual suspects (B&Q, MFI etc) IKEA came out cheapest. There's an IKEA in seville - longish drive, but could be an idea!
You can also download freebie IKEA kitchen planner sofware and print off pretty detailed 3d and aerial views, and even a list of parts. Especially if they're English isn't brill, you would virtaully have a shopping list.
Alternatively, in case it hasn't already been covered, the new Portimao retail park has a diy store called AK1 I think. Seem to recollect seeing kitchens, but don't know about cost/quality.
Happy hunting
