Has Rascals shut, 'cos they did Sunday Lunch?

I live on my own and to cook a Sunday roast for myself would mean I'd be eating it all week! I have been known to have the odd Sunday roast out, I enjoyed the meal, company of those around me (and yes I do have lots of friends!) and not having the hasstle of preparing, cooking and clearing up afterwards. Does that make me a sad person?

Ill be accused of boasting with this one-bet its not as good as mine!
Does that chef at the golf course use "Bramley" apples?or better still- a mix of "Coxs" &"Bramley" apples! That is scrumptious!!! Really short crust pastry----i cook the apples a little in saucepan first--cut them in chunks and add sugar -but NO water-just for few minutes.simply the best done this way! Except of course -French apple tart -tarte aux pomme---another fav.of mine-my aunt was cook --and taught me how to do it French-style
Oh Lord ! what have you done Guest--Ill have to go and buy some now-apples that is--- and make one--bang goes the diet!

Sounds lovely, but there are many other things called 'French Style' that are far more interesting and enjoyable and i'm not talking cooking,although some peeling could be involved.

who would win in the apple tart stakes?
Biffa seems to favour the "French style" --think Id go along with that one--its richer on the tongue and will add an inch on the hips but worth it for the flavour--and at least you can "move" afterwards!
Whereas --with good old UK style apple tart-specially after the roast---youre chair-bound for at least --what? couple of hours ?
Im left wondering what "peeling"Danny is referring to--are you?
Can you buy French apple tart in Carvoeiro Biffa ?If so-please point me in the right direction--so I can indulge in my favourite dessert at Christmas.

hi ellie.....glad to see you had a lovely break in cvo..!
best apple tart i`ve had was in a pavement cafe in paris...it was february
and was gently snowing..however the atmosphere,view,shared apple tart
and two massive cups of "chocolat chaud" made for a magical moment.

That "tete a tete" at Paris pavement cafe sounded wonderful and its made me misty eyed

dreaming of things French--not just Tarte aux Pomme and chocolat chaud---now now Ellie --calm down--its the froggie grandmaman coming out in moi encore-----
No seriously.it must have been quite something --I hope you get to do it again Mike.
Theres definitely something about Paris& France itself that brings out the "real " you dont you think?
My old French ami --hes 85--is still wooing the ladies--flirts with every girl from 18-80 and shows no sign of ever giving up!
Back to food--have you tried the dish"Shrimps in whiskey sauce" in France---delish!--but go easy on the sauce--especially if youre drinking a full bodied French red as well.I did that--and when I went out into the fresh air-boom--but it was worth it!
