Wafer heaters again!

My wife is wondering whether there would be any point is leaving a wafer heater on in the house over the winter when it is going to be mostly empty.
Our electric is solar, so we could only probably run one, I recall they are around 100w?

Are these heaters all fixed to a wall or are there freestanding ones?

thanks to your post we drove down to this company and purchased a wafer heater for the wardrobe this afternoon...many thanks...I ahve been looking for one of these gizmos for ages...but could not find anyone who sold them.

Are these low power space heaters to help prevent damp? If so, where can you get them?

Yes, we have very small ones 25w fitted on the wall behind the drawers in every wardrobe, plus larger ones 50w or 100 w on the walls in the bedrooms. This is enough to take the dampness out of the clothes and rooms.
The way they work, means the articles near the heaters absorb the heat.
Once warm they should not be turned off as they are more expensive to run as they warm up. Never cover then as even the 25w will scorch anything on them.

Put them on this week and will keep them running in the rooms until about April and in the wardrobes until it stops raining about end of May.

My OH installed wafer heaters a few weeks ago - he followed the guidelines for which ones to use for what room sizes and they seem to heat up the room very quickly to a decent temperature. He also noticed the electricity metre whirring round pretty quickly, so not sure how much it will cost to run!

However, this at least means that we won't be damp over the Christmas period and that the inside of the property should remain in a decent state of repair.

Would you still recommend these wafer heaters if you have a new build with good insultation.
