I could cry!!!

Post by old git's missus »

well we got back home on Thursday after a week in Carvoiero and looking at the webcam now I could cry when I see how the weather has changed again ,I think we were just very unlucky with the week we had, rain, rain and more rain!!! We will be back as we thought it was a cracking wee place and can see that when the sun shines it is beautiful, the people we met were lovely and the retaurants were really good, so already looking into coming back next year possibly july/august and already looking forward to it.

We've had holidays in a lot of different places and the Algarve is the only one where we have had zero rainfall. In 2001, we spent 2 weeks in Manta Rota near Tavira. On one day, we had a sprinkling of rain that lasted 5 minutes. The girl in reception came outside to enjoy it. We stayed at Armacao in 2004 and there was no rain at all. Both times were during the school summer hols. The best thing for me, is that although it is scorchio during the day, the nights are much less oppressive than Spain and Greece and you can get a decent sleep.

We have been out to Carvoeiro on numerous occasions over the last few years - in May, June, August, September and December. Have only experienced rain twice in the December and it certainly did rain! In August/September this year it was so hot that even the local's were complaining!! brilliant weather!

Out there in 3 weeks and we will enjoy ourselves whatever the weather.
If only we could win the Euro lottery - i know where we would be living and it would not be here in England!

 Agree with you lazerblazer re the nights, we have always preferred Portugal to Spain as it does cool down in the evenings, even in the height of the summer. Spain is just like an oven day or night and you are very lucky if you can sleep at all. Mind you we haven't been to many places in Spain mainly around the Javea area, liked it, but nothing seemed to be as nice as Portugal so we stopped going.

We were there in June this year and it rained for a complete week! We're panicking ourselves as we are getting married there next year in the same month! Apparently it was just freak weather though! Still rather nervous!
