I've just called teresa at Playoasis(between sesmarias and Ferragudo on the new road) and they are still taking bookings for Christmas lunch and if you email your shopping list ( playoasis@clix.pt ) you cuold pick up your shopping at the same time.

OK, I'll own up. I am the one for whom Mike was asking about shops being open.

So, any snide or derogatory remarks should be addressed to me.

Mike was being helpful inasmuch as he knew that when we arrived in the village, late on Christmas Eve, all the shops would be closed, and that without some basic foods at least we were facing a miserable Christmas dinner. So, he asked a very simple question - will there be any shops open?

Thanks for trying Mike. Sorry about the flack you got from 'guests' who seem content to criticise but cannot do it in a polite or constructive way.

I wonder what the 'guest' would do if he/she was unable to do any Christmas food shopping until Christmas Day? Methinks they'd be out in the car looking for a shop that was open!
