Hi Martin,
You'll get a reply, but maybe not the one you want :)

It is very hard for me to imagine distributing prizes to regular visitors writing in this forum! I can hardly think anyone would read any of us seriously if we were competing for free dinners or port wine or ....even worse; bourbon :-)

Signing up as a "member" is meant as a mean of standing behind your opinions and being respected for them. [As well as some technical advantages, such as seeing new/unread topics easily etc.].

You want prizes? You [or anyone else] mail me a proper article or review with photos about your favourite day out in the Algarve or something similar [we've done this before, with, unfortunately, very little success :-]

Some of the best things in life are free. Lets keep this forum free of petty interests and enjoy our freedom of speech.

aha..the story behind steen's absence is a sad one....he took his parrot to the vet. with one look the vet pronunced that the parrot was dead...steen couldn't belive it, and asked for a second opinion...the vet made a call, and, in a few moments, a labador retriver walks into the room, looked at the parrot, looked at the vet, and shook his head and walked out. still steen coulldn't belive it...so the vet made another call..and a cat walks into the room, looked at the parrot, looked at the vet, shook his head and waked out..finaly steen lost hope. his parrot was dead. the vet presented the bill...$10,OOO. steen couldn't belive it, he asked the vet why the bill was so high, and the vet told him it was for the lab report and the cat scan.

Yes, give a prize . . . to Steen

Post by Michael Crane »

What a load of codswallop!

If anyone deserves a prize it is Steen himself. For his hard work, time, dedication and money that he puts into this website. It is obviously a labour of love. If he were to be paid for his time then we probably couldn't afford him

I have only recently discovered this website and I am only an infrequent vistor to the village (once a year if I'm lucky) but Steen has bombarded me with an overwhelming wealth of information and entertainment, for which I am very grateful.

I've never met him, but I shall endeavour to do so next week when Sharen and I get there; and, if he will accept, I shall gladly buy him a drink . . . or an ice-cream
