Yes, Ellie, I am back from Germany and we are now planning for our winter get-away, January to March. How about some fun? Please post your 10 (or less) top reasons why one should come to Carvoeiro for a "winter holiday".

Good to see you back here and hope you had a great time in Germany!
Reasons for wintering in CVO?
get away from the short days and long long dark nights here in UK
(I find the lack of sunlight really depressing)
So long hours of "sunshine " has to be one of my main reasons
Also--its an excellent excuse not to cook(Im on holiday-its too hot--erm-etc)
and therefore eating out with good food on offer another reason.
Being "outside" in the fresh sea air most of the day another one
The " cafe society" in general is another big draw--where you can sit and watch the world go by
being in a small but real community--friendly folk to chat to each day.
"Drinks" seem to taste different--better---even a humble cup of coffee.
Il come back Heini --when i think of more --which im sure there will be!

I have to agree with all of the above (ahhhh yes - sitting in a coffee shop doing nothing but watch the world go by, pure luxury)
This also reflects the general attitude of the people - less work, less traffic, deserted beaches to stroll down, a seat in your favourite restaurant (provided its open), etc.
- The Algarve has the cleanest and healthiest air in southern europe.
- Temperatures will only scrape at the zero mark very infrequently during the night, usually warming up as soon as the sun is out.

I am sure there are a lot more reasons.

G---Im sure there are plenty of other reasons--but I think we've probably named the best --dont you?
Ive just sat in a teashop in deepest(and definitely "darkest" Lincolnshire)--having "afternoon tea"---but,oh lord,I was really miles away--sunning myself outside Colombos-sipping coffee--mmm--G--youre lucky so and so --you have it for "real"--all the time
and---at the moment--Id readily exchange that teashop for--wait for it---the "Mona Lisa" in Quarteira --course I would

Returning to the Algarve and CVO in particular for a winter holiday is not really about the warmth of the sun, but the warmth of the environment, the people, the richness of the scenery, and the joy of people watching, gorgeous coffee, tasty, exquisite food cooked by someone other than yourself.

Long, lazy walks with a killer wind chill factor and log fires that are mainly for the romantic effect - bliss.
