weather in may??

Post by arthur harding »

Hi

We have a booking in Carvoeiro 3rd week of May 2004

I was hoping someone can let me known the average type of weather we should expect around then

The web site is great by the way

We were in Carvoeiro during end of july/early August 2003 and had a fantastic time but it was a little hot!! Not complaining though just meant using the pool more!!

Hope someone can help

Hi Arthur have been at that time of year and had some great weather - mid 20's, although obviously there is the chance of an overcast day.

I am sure others will give their views, just my experience on occasion.

That is when we usually head to the Algarve, the last week in May first in June. It should be mid 20's and a little overcast at times, but the sun is there to quickly clear it away, much more pleasant than the hotter months of July and August...

hello arthur
i have been to cvo in may 02 and 03 , and on both occasions
the weather was great.....warm to hot during the day and pleasantly mild at night....if you are into flowers and shrubs, take a walk out towards centaines beach, it really is a lovely sight during may

May time

Post by Ellie »

Id second what Mike says about a May holiday Arthur.Although I havent been there recently in that period when we were resident I remember it getting really hot at times----in fact--my first year there --I almost "panicked" --it was middle of May--and the temp soared to upper 80s---and when my Portuguese friend said "This is nothing--wait till July /August!"--------but at least in May--you can breathe at night!
I thought--good god--Ill never survive such heat--especially working in it---butI/we did and soon acclimatised.
So would say that May is excellent time for your holiday--and again agree with Mike regarding the beautiful shrubs and flowers to be seen--enjoy :!:

Weather in May

Post by Snakey »

Hi Arthur,
Been to CVO on four occasions now, Feb 00, May/Jun 01, Apr/May 02 and early Nov 03. May/Jun 01 we couldn't sleep without the fans turned on constantly (no A/C on our villa) so that'll give you an idea of how hot it can get! It was showing in the upper 30s on our car temp gauge during the day and even the maid was saying how hot it was for the time of year (so I think that must have been unusual). It was still very warm May 02 as well - uncomfortable sitting on the beach without an umbrella and about 30 degrees I seem to remember.
Love this website by the way. CVO is a very special place - we'll be coming back again as soon as we can!
