Wine and Wine shops in CVO
Wine and Wine shops in CVO
It's been five years since I was in CVO and I should be grateful for any advice you can give on good wine shops in CVO or nearby.
Please advise of locations (fairly precise directions please
general standard and range of wines and whether value for money in your opinion.
I do like red Portugese wine quite a lot but I would be particularly interested in any particular good sources of white wine,Portugese or not.
Thanks

There is a wine shop right in the square, also one on the 'in' road and the 'out' road not far from the square (best to just walk up the roads and take a look.)
We like the Alentejo wines, red and white, the bottle with a label which has cut outs on it to look like grapes is very good and very reasonable, they have also got a rose which is lovely served ice cold.
The supermarkets also stock a very good selection of wines in all price ranges.

There is a good wine shop on the pedestrian street in Lagoa, its on the left opposite the chinese restaurant. It has some pretty good Alentajo and Douro wines that are a bit different from what is usually on offer in CVO.
However, don't dismiss the Intermarche for reasonable quality wines at really good prices.

thanks LJ and tricky - yes I agree about the Intermarche.
As for the three mentioned in CVO;
the main square: is this new or is it one of those part wine part tourist bits'n'bobs shops where the wine stands upright in the sun all day and every day - in which case, no thanks
the "in" road: this may be the one I used to go to - small but decent selection of Portugese wines and interesting range of spirits,especially the Nicaraguan rum
the "out" road:this sounds newish - can anyone tell me more
